Is SPEAR run by Sycamore Community School District?
No, SPEAR is not run by the school district. SPEAR is an independent organization made up of parents/guardians of children with disabilities who live in the communities served by Sycamore Community Schools. Although we strive to work with the school district to provide helpful information to parents/guardians and to advocate for our children, opinions expressed on the website do not necesssarily represent official school district positions.
Does SPEAR recommend/endorse all of the organizations listed on its resource pages?
SPEAR does not have a formal review process and does not officially recommend or endorse any particular outside organization or service. The resources listed have been submitted by SPEAR members who have found those organizations helpful and we provide this list as a service to the community.
What information does SPEAR collect from me?
If you fill out a membership form or e-mail us, we collect whatever information you voluntarily provide, including (but not limited to): your name and your child's name; your e-mail address; your phone number; and information about your child's school, grade level, and/or disability.
What does SPEAR do with the information it collects?
SPEAR uses infomation that members submit to maintain our mailing list; to help provide information tailored to the needs of our members; and (with your explicit permission only) to connect you with other families whose children have similar needs.
Does SPEAR share my personal information with any third parties, including the school district?
No. SPEAR does not share its member list or other personal information with any other organizations, including the school district.
With your explicit permission only, we may share your contact information with other families whose children have similar needs.
How can I be removed from SPEAR's mailing list and/or database?
